We are dedicated to the relief of chronic pelvic pain and related disorders by providing, novel, safe and non-invasive therapies.

Why we do it

Over 15 million patients in the USA suffer from a number of overlapping disorders that include pelvic pain, abdominal pain, Adhesion Related Disorder (ARD), bowel obstruction, endometriosis, interstitial cystitis (IC), painful bladder syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), vulvodynia, dyspareunia (painful intercourse), dyschezia (painful defecation), adhesions, sacroiliac joint pain, pudendal neuralgia and pelvic floor dysfunction.

Numerous patients undergo hysterectomy in an effort to alleviate their pain, only to discover that the procedure worsens their condition. In extreme cases, patients will also report fibromyalgia, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders (TMD) and reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) or complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS).

Patients suffering with these conditions often resort to using opioids and other medications whose side-effects create additional problems, leaving patients with very few treatment options. It is our goal to change that.

How we do it

Our first product is PainShield® MD, a new wearable device that delivers low-frequency therapeutic ultrasound, which promises to be a non-invasive, drug-free alternative for pain management in patients who suffer from debilitating pelvic pain.

In patients with long-standing, difficult-to-treat pain, PainShield MD has been found to significantly reduce pain associated with a number of pelvic and abdominal conditions, including interstitial cystitis, irritable bowel syndrome and chronic pelvic pain. A number of patients have been able to reduce or eliminate their use of medications, including opioids.

Empowering Patients to Live Beyond the Pain

In addition to PainShield and the other products we plan to introduce, we are making available a free, comprehensive pain diary, to empower chronic pelvic pain patients by allowing them to monitor and take charge of their condition, and helping them to communicate efficiently, effectively and knowledgeably with medical providers. The diary will help to save time in the doctor’s office by presenting a clear picture of the patient's progress, leaving more time for the doctor and patient to plan future treatment.

Who are we?

KevMed, LLC was born from the work of the International Adhesions Society (IAS), which provides information, support and advocacy to patients and their families suffering from Adhesion Related Disorder (ARD) and Complex Abdominal and Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CAPPS). The IAS was founded and funded by Synechion, Inc., a research and consulting company specializing in the science and business of adhesions and based on the internationally recognized expertise of its founder, Dr. David Wiseman. Ground-breaking research by the IAS has opened up new understandings of these conditions and their treatment from the perspective of the patient. This research has in turn resulted in the identification of PainShield MD as a novel and effective treatment option for pain.
